This would be a good book for Probation Officers and maybe Social
Workers/Administrators to read. You will notice I did not say
houseparents and other residential childcare workers, it just really doesn't
apply to the direct care work that you do with the children.
Here is the first two sentences from the introduction on the cover,
"Who is responsible for delinquency? Using
ethnographic, statistical, and literary methods, Mark D. Jacobs scrutinizes
a 'model' juvenile court in a prosperous, suburban community, revealing,
through his exploration, the many levels of disorganization in American
juvenile justice." In my opinion the rest of the book reads
the same way - somewhat dry & technical.
The book is copyright 1990, and published by "The University of Chicago
Press." New the book sells for $55 on Amazon but used copies can be
had fairly inexpensively if you really want to read it.
