Eagle Harbor is a non-profit (501c3) and non-traditional Christian based home for boys. Our mission is to provide a safe family environment to children in need. We are located in Summerville, SC 30 minutes from historic Charleston, SC.

We are searching for a married couple, passionate about the development of children, to fill a position as Houseparent to 8 boys ranging from 6 years to 18 years of age. This is a demanding position with many hours of dedication but it is also one with many rewards and benefits.

Couple candidates should have experience working with children from diverse races and cultures also backgrounds of abuse and neglect. Ideal couples would be at least 30 years of age and married for at least two years, have no more than two dependent children, possess a clean driving record, be able to pass a drug test, have the ability to prepare meals for a household of 10-12 people and be well versed in de-escalation techniques. This is a high energy calling to minister to youth that requires a sense of humor, flexibility and excellent organizational skills.

Housing at Eagle Harbor is second to none. We provide each couple with private living accommodations separate from the children. Apartments comes equipped with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, private laundry room, living room and a private entrance for entering and leaving on days off. PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Discovery Home is seeking a full-time live-in House Parent.  Room and board as well as access to the Group Home car is included in this position.  The House Parent/s will supervise and act as a role model for residents in the program.  They ensure the provision of a physically and emotionally safe environment while adhering to all schedules as well as policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Discovery Home at Denver Children’s Home is a group center that houses young men between the ages of 14 and 20. Discovery Home is a non-denominational with no religious affiliation facility.  The Discovery Home House Parent will encourage increasing individual independence, choice, community integration, and meaningful goal tracking for each Discovery Home client. Services are provided in the most inclusive, least restrictive, community-based fashion, while meeting the individual’s needs and helping them work towards their goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Reside in the home with adolescent males that are working towards emancipation, returning home, or stable housing.
  • Will work five weeks on and one week off.
  • Responsible for providing a therapeutic atmosphere within the group home setting.
  • Responsible for the supervision and safety of residents.
  • Work as direct care staff for up to 6 adolescent males struggling with mental health issues.
  • Help to coordinate all components of the treatment program, including residential activities and schedules.
  • Facilitate the development of independent living skills, pro-social behaviors, and implementation of individualized treatment plans for each client. 
  • Assist and participate in therapeutic or skill building groups.
  • Role model positive relationships, while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Supervise, instruct, and assist the clients during meals, while they do their chores and homework, and during free time and at bedtime.
  • Dispenses medications as necessary, keeps various records, and attends weekly/monthly meetings.
  • Will transport youth to appointments, school meetings and outings in the community as needed.
  • Functions as a conscientious member of a team in cooperation with other staff members and under the supervision of the Discovery Home Program Supervisor.
  • Maintain compliance with annual DMV reviews, physicals, and all training and compliance requirements including attending in-service meetings. 
  • Have and maintain certification in Therapeutic Crisis Interventions and intervene in crisis using approved crisis intervention strategies.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree and experience in working with adolescents preferred.
  • Prefer group home and/or residential experience
  • Must be at least 23 years of age.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES

  • Ability to pass a physical examination.
  • Ability to pass background check with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
  • Ability to pass background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
  • Ability to gain clearance through the Colorado Central Registry of Child Abuse and neglect (TRAILS).
  • Have or obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Have or obtain and maintain QMAP certification.
  • Have or obtain and maintain certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI).
  • Be a Qualified Driver as defined by the DCH Automobile Insurance Policy and complete DCH Van Training to become transport eligible.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Perform basic writing, communications, and computer skills.
  • Function as a group leader and role model in relation to troubled youth.
  • Respond appropriately to the emotional and physical needs of adolescents within a structured group setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Requires continuous walking, standing, sitting, fine hand or finger movement,

detailed sight and hearing. 

  • Significant and frequent use of physical and sensory requirements associated with verbal and written communication, hearing acuity and visual acuity to observe and record client behaviors and activities.
  • Ability to do restrictive procedures in accordance with Denver Children’s Home Therapeutic Crisis Intervention guidelines.
  •  Requires use of office equipment requiring repetitive wrist/hand movement and vision.
  •  Ability to routinely perform light lifting of 1-20 lbs., with occasional moderate lifting of 21-60 lbs. and heavy lifting of more than 61 lbs.  
  • Frequently pushes or pulls objects up to 60 lbs., with occasional pushing or pulling of objects over 61 lbs. 
  • Frequent bending or stooping and reaching above shoulder level. 
  • Requires climbing of stairs on a regular basis. 
  • Occasional driving automatic equipment/vehicles.
  • May experience temperature fluctuations, from heat to cold due to environment changes of the Home and the need to work outdoors at times.

The position of Live-In Houseparent at Bishops Gate Sports Services is vital to maintaining a supportive and nurturing environment for the students of Bishops Gate Golf Academy

As a live-in role model for sports academy students, Houseparents play a key role in student development. Houseparents demonstrate a high degree of interpersonal skills, organizational skills and flexibility. The ability to lead by example, model the values desired from students, demonstrate sound judgment and uphold the highest standards of safety, cleanliness and discipline are critical.

The candidate must be well organized and structured, with strong follow through. • Ensuring the safety and well-being of the students of BGGA
• Overseeing and/or undertaking the needs of BGGA students on a daily basis

• Managing the household and other Housing duties as instructed by the Director of Student Care
• Maintaining open communication with the Director of Student Care

• Maintain a clean, well-organized house and hold students accountable for their chores
• Chaperone students to off-site events:
◦ i.e. tournaments, weekend activities, doctor’s appointments, etc.
• Supervising students in the evenings and weekends, including assistance with homework when appropriate

• Track progress in housing and school and communicate with the school liaison
• Attend weekly housing meetings and offer input on housing ideas/improvements and student issues
• Positively interact with the golf academy staff and students including reports to parents following the communication schedule
