 This position is for a married couple only The primary role of the Residential Child Care Specialists / Houseparents (RCCS) is to oversee the day-to-day care and supervision of the children assigned to their cottage. The Residential Child Care Specialists / Houseparents are responsible for monitoring all the aspects of daily cottage life and is, in essence, the primary caring person for the child/youth during his/her stay at the Florida United Methodist Children's Home. The Houseparents will be a couple bound in the traditional legal relationship of marriage. Seeking caring and nurturing individuals to work with children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. Our campus takes in mostly very young children---infants, toddlers, and elementary school age (the average age on site is 5 yrs old). Interested candidates may be single persons or a married couple.  House Parents live in the residence with the children and provide youth with a strong parental role model while implementing a professional family-style program that emphasizes skill acquisition and personal development and a safe, secure and nurturing environment in which to grow and learn. The House Parent will be involved in teaching social skills, self-help skills, and independent living skills. House Parents administer the day-to-day operations of a family residence including documentation and domestic responsibilities. Houseparents work a 6 days on/3 days off schedule.
