Staff Centered, thoughts?

I heard a story about a house parent couple praising their workplace because
they are so "staff centered". While I believe treating your staff well is an
absolute MUST, this term bothered me. Any thoughts?

I think it's like my wife always says to me, "Don't over think it" They were
probably just referring to how their facility feels that it is important to
retain qualified staff and work hard to do it.
To refer to program style there are really only three:
Program Centered-The facility is focused on the program (the needs of the child
in care or the child's family are really not considered)
Child Centered-The needs of the child and/or the child's behavior are the
focus, however the needs of the child's family and root issues may not be
addressed (this could include very long term residential foster care facilities
that become the surrogate family for the child)
Family Centered-The needs of the child and/or the child's behavior are
addressed, but the issues of the family are also addressed and services
provided to aid in reunification, or some other permanency placement for the
child.

Your list of what every place is "centered" on is pretty much spot on. That's
why "staff centered" bothers me a little. I am just thrilled that I don't work
at a place like that.
