Job Description:  

House Parents
To act as a parent, advocate, life skills teacher, and role model for the youth of The Refuge. He or she is responsible for ensuring safety at all times through close supervision and high interaction with youth and for implementing agency policies, procedures, and philosophy.

Responsibilities
Provides a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment for youth.
Provides constant supervision for youth during recreational activities and outings.
Provide one-on-one supervision to youth when safety concerns are noted.
Ensure individual service plan goals, objectives, and strategies are implemented on a daily basis.
Be responsible for timely and accurate communication within program.
Advocate for youth by working closely with key professionals to ensure youth's needs are being met.
Assist youth with homework/independent living activities.
Distribute psychotropic medication to youth as needed, documenting in the Medication Administration Record.
Assist in preserving youth's culture by implementing their youth's traditions or cultural activities.
Consult daily with other caregivers to ensure needs of youth are being met.
Provide daily documentation noting the events during shift, and complete documentation for any Serious Incident.
Be a positive role model for youth and co-workers while promoting a positive work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Provide transportation for residents to legal and medical appointments

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to live on campus for the duration of the assigned shift.
Thorough knowledge of the P&P of The Refuge and DFPS Minimum Standards.
Demonstrated competence and consistent implementation of the core components of our treatment program; to provide leadership in the ongoing assessment of assigned children.
Ability to prioritize and respond to the needs of the children and assigned staffers.
Ability to work cooperatively and productively

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in human services field, preferred.
At least 1 year experience working with adolescents and families and/or at-risk youth, preferably in a residential treatment setting.
Maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Physically able to use authorized Crisis Intervention techniques.
Must be at least 21 years of age, have valid driver's license

Job Description:  

Hendrick Home for Children is accepting applications for our Basic Care Program. The Home raises children, ages 5 to 18, in a safe and loving Christian environment. The children are reared in an atmosphere of spiritual, physical, emotional and intellectual growth. They enjoy participating in all academic and extracurricular activities of their public schools.

• A Positive Role Model for all our children
• Care and Supervision for residents in the assigned cottage
• Responsibilities of a Parent to include the provision of Material, Physical, Spiritual, Emotional, and Disciplinary Needs
• Meal Preparation and Menu Documentation
• Transportation for children, including but not limited to, to and from school and medical appointments
• Administration & Documentation of Medications
• Ability to follow schedules and participate in related planning

Minimum Qualifications Include:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver's License w/excellent driving record
• Ability to care for up to 8 children
• Must possess and exhibit behavior that demonstrates cultural diversity and sensitivity
• License in Childcare preferred
