The Baptist Children's Village has been serving at-risk children and families throughout Mississippi since 1897. Like any organization that has thrived for well over a century, much of its success throughout the years can be credited to both its enduring mission as well as its capacity and willingness to change.
What was once a home for orphans has grown into a modern organization of over 50 professionals implementing a trauma-informed approach to serve 200+ children every year across seven residential campuses and non-residential family services.
Under the leadership of Mr. Paul N. Nunnery, who served asExecutive Director from 1960 until 1990, The Baptist Children’s Village evolved its approach to emphasize family-modeled living for residents, which continues to be a defining characteristic of the organization. In the past three decades, leadership at BCV have furthered the vision to provide a more natural, family-living environment by expanding to seven smaller, strategically located residential campuses.
Each child in BCV residential programs live in a cottage cared forby houseparents. They attend a local public school and participate inextracurricular activities. They also attend a local Baptist church and receive individualized services coordinated by a dedicated Case Manager.
The primary responsibility of houseparents is to model healthy, Christian family living for children and youth.
